IT Manager

Nanometrics has a great opportunity for a passionate, experienced and strategic IT leader who is also capable of diving into the details to solve complex problems.

This position is responsible for providing IT and IS leadership and vision to the organization. With a mix of responsibilities combining day-to-day operations and longer-term project implementation, the IT Manager is the point person for all IT and IS related strategy.  Managing external resources, development and management of IT budgets, project management and the development of policy are all in the scope of this position.

The successful candidate should be an innovator, curious about technology and a subject matter expert with a history of successfully implementing the latest and greatest best practices in IT.

We are looking for a candidate who is confident in their ability to influence all parts of the business, has broad knowledge and systems experience and is an excellent trouble-shooter.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure security of all systems, networks, devices, and information.

  • Be a source of knowledge, advice, and support for our R&D, Production and Operations teams

  • Proactively research and evaluate new trends and technologies that can aid our business objectives and processes, owning all aspects of the process (evaluation, proposal, planning, and implementation).

  • Source, configure, and install equipment, computers, accessories, and software.

  • Source, select, and manage relationships with technology vendors and consultants.

  • Configure and manage on-premises, cloud, and SaaS systems, accounts, and licenses.

  • Work with all departments to improve the effectiveness of systems and tools.

  • Routinely audit systems and software and provide recommendations on adding, cancelling, upgrading and negotiating accounts to streamline and consolidate our business processes.

  • Provide after-hours and/or weekend on-site and remote support including network maintenance

Qualities:
  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships

  • Demonstrated ability and desire to collaboratively work cross functionally to achieve corporate objectives

Qualifications:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent

  • 7-10 years of role progression experience in IT

  • Minimum 3 years experience managing IT team

  • Solid understanding of network architecture, devices, and security technologies

  • Experience as a Microsoft and/or Linux server administrator

  • Track record of successfully driving complex projects to completion, on time and within budget.

  • Strong problem solving, data-driven and decision-making skills required

  • Experience with Perl, Python, Ruby or Shell scripting
