Sales Manager, Seismology


Reports to:           Manager Sales, Americas

Based in:              Ottawa, Ontario

Term:                    Full-Time

The Sales Manager will be responsible for leading sales and business development initiatives to better understand the needs and challenges of existing and new customers in the Seismology market. The incumbent will identify opportunities and develop large program contracts for Nanometrics products and services.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Take over the management of existing accounts and relationships in North America

  • Advise customers and clients on our suite of seismological products and services

  • Develop a strong understanding of the seismology community and of our customers and clients

  • Prepare and present insightful solutions and proposals, guide the customers and clients through new and innovative complex solutions that may challenge the status quo

  • Attend tradeshows and scientific workshops across North America

  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, R&D, Manufacturing, and Services to deliver an outstanding customer experience

  • Maintain competitor intelligence

  • Manage the sales process through the company CRM

  • Close deals

 

Qualities:
  • A proactive and competitive approach to business development

  • The ability to think at a strategic level rather than solely about product or volume sales

  • Comfortable debating and guiding conversations with clients and customers

  • The ability to develop a deep understanding of the business, science, challenges and commercial drivers in the Seismology market

  • Not afraid to challenge the status quo

  • Comfortable in the field and in the boardroom

  • Solid communication skills and ability to teach technical subjects to customers

 

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree, preferable in the geosciences

  • >5 years of previous sales or business development experience

  • Previous experience selling to academia and/or government

  • Previous experience in selling geophysical equipment is desirable
